Aspiring writers in grades 4 - 7 should join us, and author Emily Barth Isler, for an afternoon of writing activities and learn what it takes to write a book!
Tweens (Grades 4 to 7) - if you've ever wanted to become an author, don't miss this program! Hone your writing skills with fun writing exercises, and ask author Emily Barth Isler your questions about life as a writer. At the end of the program, we'll give away 10 signed copies of The Color of Sound.
Emily Barth Isler is the award-winning author of the middle grade novels AfterMath and The Color of Sound, and forthcoming picture book, Always Enough Love (Nancy Paulsen Books, Spring 2026). Born and raised in Columbia, Maryland, Emily earned a B.A. in Film Studies from Wesleyan University, lived in New York City for almost 20 years, and now lives in Los Angeles, California, with her husband and their two kids.
Why Tweens? We get it - it's a tough age! Too big for the little kid programs, not old enough for the teen programs. These special tween only programs give those inbetweeners a place of their own where they can be themselves with other kids their age.
The Buena Vista Branch Library is located on Buena Vista Street near Olive Avenue in Burbank’s Media District. It is a one-story building.
