Join Miss Jenny and friends to discuss our book and play games. Once registered, be sure to pick up your book at the Buena Vista Library. Group 1 meets on a Tuesday each month at 3:30pm.
Space is limited. If you did not attend last month’s book club meeting, registration is required. If spots are available, they open after the previous month's meeting has ended. Please register using your child’s name.
Once registered, you will need to pick up a free book at the Buena Vista Branch Library and start reading. If you have any questions, you can email childrenslibrarian@burbankca.gov.
We will be reading A Parrot in the Painting: The Story of Frida Kahlo and Bonito by Thea Feldman. "The legendary Mexican artist Frida Kahlo had many pets. Among them was a little parrot by the name of Bonito, the Spanish word for “beautiful.” Frida painted her monkeys, her dogs, and her deer, but when would she be ready to paint Bonito? Discover the story of Bonito and Frida Kahlo in this fact-filled Level 2 Ready-to-Read."
A book club for kids is one of the best ways to combine learning and fun. Early readers book clubs support the emerging literacy of kids who have graduated from story time and are being introduced to more formal “learn-to-read” techniques in school. This program will introduce kids to awesome books, get them excited about books and reading, and help them develop social skills through interacting with their peers.
The Buena Vista Branch Library is located on Buena Vista Street near Olive Avenue in Burbank’s Media District. It is a one-story building.
