The Human Library is a library of people and the experiences they've faced with prejudice. Instead of page-filled books, actual people are on loan for 30-minute conversations, no library card required, to bring awareness to the challenges they've faced and what they've done to overcome them. It is a safe space for Books and Readers to converse openly and without judgement on topics that may be considered taboo, marginalized, or stigmatized.
Readers are required to return the Human Book in the same condition as borrowed. Readers are prohibited from causing damage and hurt the Book's dignity in any way. Readers are responsible for preserving the condition of the Book. Loans are personal and cannot be handed over to another Reader. Readers are free to ask about the things that you'd like to know, and loans may be extended with approval from both the Book and Librarian. Readers are free to borrow another Book once their current one is returned.
