Explore colors, shapes, and patterns with fun hands-on activities that are easy to recreate at home in preparation for starting Kindergarten!
Is your child getting ready to attend Kindergarten or even start preschool soon? Join us as we explore colors, shapes, and patterns with fun hands-on activities that are easy to recreate at home using everyday objects. Multiple stations will be available for you and your preschooler to visit and each is accompanied by instructions that guide caregivers through repeating the activities at home. A variation of this program occurs again in July and August, so by the end of the summer you'll have lots of fun ideas for learning at home!
Identifying shapes and colors as well as recognizing patterns are important steps toward kindergarten readiness. A strong understanding of shapes can help preschoolers better recognize letters and numbers and how they look. Words and letters are made up of patterns – both in the shapes that make them up, and in the sounds they form, such as rhyming patterns. Exposing children to and teaching them about colors develops their visual perception, in other words the ability of the brain to correctly interpret what the eyes see.
For Preschoolers age 3-5 and their caregivers.
Registration required. Space is limited. Please register using your child’s name. Caregivers attending the program with a child do not need to register.
