A Graphic Novel Book Club for Kids in Grades 3 - 5

Join Miss Jenny and friends to discuss our book and play games. Once you are registered, be sure to pick up your book at Buena Vista Branch Library.

Please register using your child’s name. Space is limited. If you did not attend last month’s book club meeting, registration is required. If spots are available, they open after the previous month's meeting has ended.

Once registered, you will need to pick up a free book at Buena Vista Branch Library and start reading. If you have any questions, you can email childrenslibrarian@burbankca.gov.

We will be reading Treasure in the Lake by Jason Pamment. "Grand adventures stories often begin where you least expect them…Iris knows this because she’s read them all. However, as a thirteen-year-old stuck in the tiny town of Bugden, real adventure seems like a distant dream. But when Iris and her best friend, Sam, stumble upon an unusually dry river on the outskirts of town, they’re led to a discovery beyond anything Iris has ever read about: a hidden city and a forgotten tale of friendship."

A book club for kids is one of the best ways to combine learning and fun. Early readers book clubs support the emerging literacy of kids who have graduated from story time and are being introduced to more formal “learn-to-read” techniques in school. This program will introduce kids to awesome books, get them excited about books and reading, and help them develop social skills through interacting with their peers.
