After Effects: Lightsabers!
In the Spark! Digital Media Lab
Monday, May 04
6:30pm - 8:30pm
Create your own lightsaber effect from scratch! In this beginner-friendly After Effects class, you’ll learn how to mask, glow, and animate a blade over video footage.
Learn how movie magic is made!
In this hands-on After Effects workshop, students will create their own lightsaber effects over live-action footage. We’ll cover key concepts like masking, rotoscoping, color glow, and sound design, giving you the skills to turn a short video clip into a cinematic sci-fi scene.
By the end, you’ll have a finished 5–10 second video ready to share on social media, plus a project file you can expand on at home.
Perfect for beginners and Star Wars fans alike, no visual effects experience required.
Access to the Spark! Lab is for adults and students in grade 6 and higher with a library card in good standing.
