Canvas Meditations: Queer Courage In Color
A "Queer Histories, Queer Futures" Program
Saturday, July 11
4:00pm - 6:00pm
A meditative art-making exercise centered on self-expression, wellness, and creativity.
Canvas Meditations is a creative wellness workshop series created and facilitated by Los Angeles–based artist SUPERWAXX, centered on self-expression, reflection, and resilience.
This edition explores courage within the queer community during times of social change and uncertainty, with inspiration drawn from influential figures such as Marsha P. Johnson and Keith Haring. Participants will reflect on inner strength through guided drawing and collage exercises using color, symbols, images, and words.
The program will begin with a 20-minute sound bath meditation. Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat for this portion of the experience.
No prior art experience is needed. Attendees will leave with a completed “canvas meditation” artwork serving as a personal affirmation of courage, identity, and resilience.
