2026 Vardavar in the Park

A celebration of water and joy!

Come celebrate Vardavar with Burbank Public Library! Եկեք տոնենք Վարդավառը Բըրբենքի հանրային գրադարանի հետ։

Join us in Lincoln Park beside Buena Vista Branch Library for our Vardavar celebration! We'll have music by the Burbank Music Academy, crafts for kids and adults, and food! 

There will be a designated splash hour from 1 - 2 PM where you can throw water balloons, run through our misters, or splash around in the designated baby-zone.

Please remember to wear a bathing suit and/or clothes you're comfortable getting wet and bring a towel! For everyone’s safety and enjoyment, please do not bring your own water toys, like water guns or Super Soakers. All water play items will be provided at the event.

You won't want to miss this celebration in the park!

What is Vardavar?

Armenia’s most famous modern festivals predates both Spain’s La Tomatina and Italy’s Battle of Oranges. It draws upon the Christian tradition of the Transfiguration, with origins dating as far back as the Pagan observance of the goddess Astghik.

Some say “Vardavar” comes from vard, the Armenian word for “rose” and others link it to older roots like vadar (water) and arr (splash). Either way, the name hints at the same thing: a celebration of water and joy!
