We will be reading Darwin's Super-Pooping Worm Spectacular by Polly Owen. Widely known for his Origin of Species book, Charles Darwin had another great love...for worms! This is the funny and fascinating true story of how Darwin came to discover that the humble earthworm is the most important species on our planet, conducting utterly bizarre but entirely true experiments over the course of 40 years. (Worm bassoon concert, anyone?) Learn about the, well, 'superpower' he eventually uncovered that sustains all life on earth, forcing scientists who once laughed at him to take him VERY seriously.
A book club for kids is one of the best ways to combine learning and fun. Early readers book clubs support the emerging literacy of kids who have graduated from story time and are being introduced to more formal “learn-to-read” techniques in school. This program will introduce kids to awesome books, get them excited about books and reading, and help them develop social skills through interacting with their peers.
