Comics Squad Book Club
A Graphic Novel Book Club for Kids in Grades 3-5
Wednesday, December 16
4:00pm - 5:00pm
Join Miss Kristine and friends to discuss our book and play games. Once you are registered, be sure to pick up your book at Burbank Central Library.
Please register using your child’s name. Space is limited. If you did not attend last month’s book club meeting, registration is required. If spots are available, they open after the previous month's meeting has ended.
Once registered, you will need to pick up a free book at Burbank Central Library and start reading. If you have any questions, you can email childrenslibrarian@burbankca.gov.
We will be reading Mixed Feelings by Sara Amini. Author Sara Amini will also be our special guest, joining us this month at the Central Library! "At first, Sara's got mixed feelings about middle school. But she finds comfort in TV -- whether she's watching it, performing her favorite scenes, or imagining her life is a show itself. So when she joins drama club, Sara discovers a community where she can be anything she wants -- including herself. Has Sara finally found a place to fit in? Or will she instead find herself buried under her growing leg hair and off-stage friendship drama?"
A book club for kids is one of the best ways to combine learning and fun. Early readers book clubs support the emerging literacy of kids who have graduated from story time and are being introduced to more formal “learn-to-read” techniques in school. This program will introduce kids to awesome books, get them excited about books and reading, and help them develop social skills through interacting with their peers.
Burbank Central Library
The Burbank Central Library is located at the corner of Glenoaks Boulevard and Olive Avenue in downtown Burbank. It is a two-story building with elevator access.
