Join us for an informational session about food waste and the California law SB 1383
It's Earth Day!
Did you know that each year, around ⅓ of the food produced on the planet for humans to eat gets lost or wasted in some way? Join us and learn about what the future holds for us and how we will be dealing with food waste.
Burbank's Recycling Center Specialist Amy Hammes and Landfill Supervisor Curtis Jordan will join us to discuss the City of Burbank’s upcoming food scrap collection program, which will be starting later this year in accordance with the new California law, SB 1383. There will be time for your questions after the presentation.
SB 1383 is a statewide effort to lower emissions of climate pollutants by reducing statewide disposal of edible food, both by diverting organic waste from our landfill and rescuing leftover food from businesses for donation.
