Join us for an entertaining and educational discussion with an opera expert. Presented in partnership with LA Opera Connects.
NOW IN-PERSON!
Whether you know a little or a lot about opera, there’s always more to learn. LA Opera's Community Educators are ready to bring you into the historical and cultural worlds of opera with talks given by opera experts.
This month's Opera Talk will be led by Geoff Kuenning who will discuss LA Opera's upcoming production Aida, an opera by Giuseppe Verdi in four acts. Set in the Old Kingdom of Egypt, the opera tells the story of a secret romance between a prisoner of war and her captor. Aida is a central component of the operatic canon, and performances are staged every year around the world. At the Metropolitan Opera in New York alone, Aida has been performed more than 1,100 times since 1886.
