Join Miss Jenny and friends to discuss our book and play games. Once registered, be sure to pick up your book at the Buena Vista Library. Group 1 meets on a Tuesday each month at 3:30pm.
Space is limited. If you did not attend last month’s book club meeting, registration is required. If spots are available, registration opens after the previous month's meeting has ended.
Once registered, you will need to pick up a free book at the Buena Vista Branch Library and start reading. If you have any questions, you can email childrenslibrarian@burbankca.gov.
We will be reading Wordy Birdy Meets Mr. Cougarpants by Tammi Sauer. "Wordy Birdy and her pals are heading on a camping trip, and our favorite chatty bird is all ready for a big night under the stars. ("I brought pickles and bean burritos and more pickles and mashed potatoes and some pickles and . . .") But the friends soon find themselves in hot water when the dastardly Mr. Cougarpants stalks their campsite. Can Wordy Birdy talk them all out of this pickle? Grab your pack, grill up a s'more, and find out!"
A book club for kids is one of the best ways to combine learning and fun. Early readers book clubs support the emerging literacy of kids who have graduated from story time and are being introduced to more formal “learn-to-read” techniques in school. This program will introduce kids to awesome books, get them excited about books and reading, and help them develop social skills through interacting with their peers.
The Buena Vista Branch Library is located on Buena Vista Street near Olive Avenue in Burbank’s Media District. It is a one-story building.
