We will be reading Dave the Unicorn: Welcome to Unicorn School by Pip Bird. Mira goes to unicorn school only to find herself paired with a very un-unicorn-y unicorn: Dave. Dave loves doughnuts. He doesn’t follow directions very well. And he farts. A lot. But Dave is unlike his fellow unicorns in another way: He’s a little smarter than they are. And he has a few tricks up his sleeve to show Mira—and all of us—that friendship is more important than sparkles and prancing.
A book club for kids is one of the best ways to combine learning and fun. Early readers book clubs support the emerging literacy of kids who have graduated from story time and are being introduced to more formal “learn-to-read” techniques in school. This program will introduce kids to awesome books, get them excited about books and reading, and help them develop social skills through interacting with their peers.
The Burbank Central Library is located at the corner of Glenoaks Boulevard and Olive Avenue in downtown Burbank. It is a two-story building with elevator access.
