1st-2nd Grade Book Club

Join Mr. Kevin and friends to discuss our book and play games. Once registered, be sure to pick up your book at Northwest Branch Library. This group meets on a Tuesday each month at 4:00pm.

Please register using your child’s name. Space is limited. If you did not attend last month’s book club meeting, registration is required. If spots are available, they open after the previous month's meeting has ended.

Once registered, you will need to pick up a free book at Northwest Branch Library and start reading. If you have any questions, you can email childrenslibrarian@burbankca.gov.

We will be reading Gigi and Ojiji: Perfect Paper Cranes by Melissa Iwai. Gigi loves the Japan Day Festival! When Ojiji volunteers at the origami booth, Gigi can’t wait to make a paper crane like Ojiji’s. But folding paper is harder than it looks, and Gigi is disheartened when she sees her paper crane next to Ojiji’s. Will Gigi give up or will she try her best?

A book club for kids is one of the best ways to combine learning and fun. Early readers book clubs support the emerging literacy of kids who have graduated from story time and are being introduced to more formal “learn-to-read” techniques in school. This program will introduce kids to awesome books, get them excited about books and reading, and help them develop social skills through interacting with their peers.
