Hone your writing skills with a scribe of scary stories!
It's time for our TeenTober Scary Story contest, and this year we're bringing in some experts to help you out! Lilliam Rivera is an award-winning author of nine works of fiction: a dark thriller, four young adult novels, three middle grade books, and a graphic novel for DC Comics. Her books have been awarded a Pura Belpré Honor, been featured on NPR, New Yorker, Los Angeles Times, NY Times, and multiple “best of” lists. Her writing has appeared in Elle Magazine, The Washington Post, New York Times, to name a few. She is also a screenwriter and has written for the episodic podcast series Love in Gravity, which was nominated for a 2024 GLAAD.
We'll also be giving away copies of Lilliam's books to some lucky winners.

This program is for teens in grades 6-12, registration is not required.

About the branch
The Buena Vista Branch Library is located on Buena Vista Street near Olive Avenue in Burbank’s Media District. It is a one-story building.
