Please register using your child’s name. Space is limited. If you did not attend last month’s book club meeting, registration is required. If spots are available, they open after the previous month's meeting has ended.

Once registered, you will need to pick up a free book at Buena Vista Branch Library and start reading. If you have any questions, you can email childrenslibrarian@burbankca.gov.

We will be reading Night Chef by Mika Song. The Night Chef has never had a family—only a dream. She’s spent years living inside the walls of a human restaurant, honing her cooking skills. She knows she can fry an omelette with the best of them– but she also knows that humans will never accept her. And so she keeps to herself, hidden and alone. Then, one evening, when Night Chef cracks an egg open for her dinner, a baby crow named Ichi falls out! Despite being reluctant to leave her home, Night Chef steps into the wilds in order to reunite Ichi with his family. And along the journey, she might just find a family to call her own, too.

A book club for kids is one of the best ways to combine learning and fun. Early readers book clubs support the emerging literacy of kids who have graduated from story time and are being introduced to more formal “learn-to-read” techniques in school. This program will introduce kids to awesome books, get them excited about books and reading, and help them develop social skills through interacting with their peers.

Please note: This program will be held in the Literacy Conference room at the Central Library. Please talk to children's desk staff and they will let you in.
